Back in person again, What’s New, What’s Next takes place at the New York Design Center at 200 Lex on September 14. NYDC showrooms are hosting a series of high-energy events introducing new product lines and fresh materials, complete with informative panels featuring top design industry professionals. The DLN’s own Michael Diaz-Griffith and Michael Boodro will be hosting panels at Desiron and Ralph Lauren Home, respectively, with guests including Joy Moyler, Matt Berman, and Zuni Madera.

DLN Members, Partners, and staff will be on scene at the NYDC all day catching up with each other (and hustling between floors together) as they explore their favorite showrooms, review the latest product launches, and make precious new industry connections. If you haven’t registered yet, sign up now.

Here’s what DLN Partners are planning for this year’s What’s New, What’s Next.

THE FUTURE IN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

DAVID SUTHERLAND, SUITE 117 | 11:30 AM
Elle Decor Editor-in-Chief Asad Syrkett will sit down with interior designers Heide Hendricks and Laura Hodges and Sutherland Creative Director Eugeni Quitllet to navigate the path towards a more sustainable future through design. What changes—both big and small–can be made in the industry to reduce negative impact? How can design professionals incorporate eco-friendly designs into their projects? How can the industry meet the moment and forge a new path forward?

CREATING AUTHENTICITY: EVOLVING BRANDS THROUGH DESIGN COLLABORATIONS

DESIRON, SUITE 1316 | 11:45 AM
In a design market saturated by product, standing out has never been more important. How can brands distinguish themselves in a crowded field, offering a directional approach rather than more of the same? In recent years, the savviest brands have fostered innovative and sometimes surprising collaborations with designers. When a collaboration is the right fit, more distinctive products emerge, as well as an opportunity for authentic transformation and growth – both for brands and the designers with whom they collaborate. Join us for an inspiring conversation about the value and future of creative collaboration with Courtlandt Pennell, CEO of DESIRON; Matt Berman, Founding Principal of Workshop/APD; interior designer, artist, and product designer Linherr Hollingsworth; and Zuni Madera, Vice President of Foley&Cox, along with moderator Michael Diaz-Griffith, Executive Director & COO of the Design Leadership Network.

ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP, AMERICAN INTERIORS: BRINGING EUROPEAN HERITAGE HOME

RALPH LAUREN HOME, SUITE 700 | 1 PM
When the doors of Palazzo Ralph Lauren flew open during June’s Milan Design Week, the design world experienced first-hand Ralph Lauren’s vision of classic European design, with Ralph Lauren Home’s new Palazzo collection taking center stage. This fall, the Design Leadership Network will hold its annual global Summit in Rome and Milan, exploring the beauty and heritage of two iconic design capitals. What unites these two design initiatives? A passion for Italian craftsmanship, from the fabric mills of the Como region to artisanal production in the heart of Rome and beyond. Join AD 100 and Elle Decor A-List interior designer Joy Moyler, Ralph Lauren Home’s creative director Dennis Adler, and Michael Boodro, Editor of HIVE, The Journal of the Design Leadership Network for a discussion about Italian craft and design, American taste and lifestyles, and how we can merge the two influences in our interiors today, bringing European heritage home.
